Description: This is an antique, 1930s Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Case. Alas the original key to lock and unlock it is missing. It's still in great condition minus some aesthetic wear. There's scuffs and scratches inside and out and there's a stain on the cloth that covers the folded clothes area (see pics). Everything functions properly The internal straps are complete. The case has two sections, a hanging wardrobe on one side which has a velvet covered pad to protect the suits and fastens with two sets of stud buttons holding the clothes in place. The cloth that holds the folded clothes in place fastens by three button like fasteners, all of which are intact and in good condition. All of the straps that hold the folded clothes are still intact. These wardrobe cases were made exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue by the Hartmann Luggage Company Following the days of steamer trunks, businessmen (sorry ladies but this was pre-womens revolution) wanted a way to carry their suits and starched shirts on trains and busses. If you were well healed you bought the best and the best were these Tourobes by Hartmann! The Tourobe measures 32 Tall X 20 Wide X 9 Deep.
