Description: This is one of the self-published journals created by Robert Halberg for model kit collectors and hobby enthusiasts in general. He made his journals by photocopying pages from catalogs, trade journals, advertisement, etc. This was published in 1997. The pages are punched so that the journals can be added to by their owners. This journal has 167 pages. Hawk Model Company was started way back in the 1920s in the days of "stick-and-tissue" wooden and paper models. Also wood "solids." As the company moved into the 1940s, they began adding some plastic parts to their kits, such as propellers and wheels. Then in the mid-1940s Hawk brought out perhaps the first all-plastic model airplane kit made in the USA. By the 1950s all their kits were plastic. Hawk was never as big as Revell or Aurora in the plastic age, but Hawk produced a number of interesting, high-quality models. The story of Hawk is one innovation and enterprise by a couple of brothers and their families over many decades.
