Description: Hear 1956 Bill Carey and George Barnes Rock & Roll DJ 45 Goin' to Chicago Blues Bill Carey and George Barns – “Goin’ to Chicago Blues” b/w Bill Carey – “Boston Town” (Coral 61622). Great spring of 1956 Rock n Roo / Blues remake of the Count Basie tune featuring guitarist Barnes with Carey on vocal. Chicago artist Barnes was a swing jazz guitarist who played the first electric guitar in 1931. He, disputedly, made the first commercial recording of an electric guitar on March 1, 1938, in sessions with Big Bill Broonzy. Such was his downhome style of playing; he was once mistakenly described as a "great Negro blues guitar player from Chicago." Carey was a California born singer, songwriter, actor, and author who started a big band singer in the 30s. Flip is a good instrumental by Barnes. Take a listen. DJ copy. Record is in strong VG+ condition (has a pucker on one label where a sticker was removed – see scan.)
