Description: This is a beautiful hand plane and one of the best looking planes I have made but it is also a usable tool. I made this several years ago but never added the hardware. So I finally finished it. The body of the plane is made from cerejeira wood. It is a medium density wood with an unbelievable fragrance when being worked. The sides are figured black walnut. The sole is hickory wood which is very hard. The blade holding dowel is ebony and finally the ‘chip breaker’ is wenge wood. The wood is very finely sanded then oiled. The sole is flat and the blade is very sharp. It has a 25 degree bevel and I put a 30 degree micro-bevel. The bed angle is 45 degrees. The blade and hardware are Veritas brand. It has a Norris style blade adjuster which adjusts the blade in and out but also laterally. The blade is made from A2 steel. It is 2 inches wide. The handles are reinforced with screws then plugged with walnut wood. This is a bevel down design. The chip breaker knob tightens very close to the holes on the blade so you have to find the sweet spot. Not a big deal but I like to be transparent. The blade has to be completely retracted to not be exposed through the sole.
