Description: Hernando Desoto, 1500-1542, was a Spanish explorer sent by Charles V of Spain to conquer Florida. Landing there May 30, 1539, his forces explored the country for 3 years, reaching the Cherokee Indians and Great Smoky Mountains in 1540. In 1541 he discovered the MS and died the next spring on its banks. The card is in good condition, some dings, aging on the back, with wear on the corners and sides.
