Hardcover, 418 pages, abundantly illustrated with folding maps and b&w photo plates. Measures 6.5x9.5 inches. Lindestrom, a Swedish engineer, reported to the riches of the New World and included descriptions of the "American and western savage people." One plate depicts a family of Delaware Indians. He writes of trading with them and of how they live. Includes chapters on the customs, language, medicine, dwellings, and trade of the Indians, arrow heads, pipes, beads, chiefs, fetishes, villages, canoes, religion, cooking, tools, and more. Condition is G+: light tanning to spine, discoloration to both covers, bookplate to front pastedown; cracking along interior hinge with netting showing, but the text block is unaffected; a couple of the folding maps have stains along the fold, otherwiseclean bright pages throughout.
