Among the many subjects included in the 1892 excerpt are: Boundaries, Physical Features, Climate, Soil, the Calaveras Big Trees, the South Grove, Other Natural Wonders, Agriculture, Fruit Growing, Viticulture, Canals, Irrigation, Mining, Diary excerpts from an 1848 gold field visitor, Education, Railroads, the cities of San Andreas and Angel's (known as Angel's Camp), other communities, including Murphy's, originally an old mining camp, Mokelumne Hill, Milton, Copperopolis, West Point, and others. The Historic Spots excerpt concerns Wayside Inns, Double Springs (a once ambitious Ghost Town), Angel's Camp, the Bret Harte Country, Carson Hill, the Calaveras Skull, the Mokelumne Hill Region, Murphy's Camp, San Andreas, Vallecito, Jenny Lind and Copperopolis. The Archives Guide is available for those interested in deeper research. It includes a small map of the county. A picture of the Sentinels and Pavilion in Calaveras Grove is included.
