Description: "Condensed History of the Construction of the Union Pacific Railway, also Some Important Facts Later On" is a scarce 192 page, 5.25"x7.25" hardcover written by Joseph Nichols and published in 1892 by Klopp, Bartlett & Co. (Omaha, NB). This is the first edition. The author was the assistant record clerk for Union Pacific, so this history came straight from the source. The book is in acceptable, reading-only condition, with no dust jacket. It's ex-library with the usual markings and attachments. The gilt-decorated blue cloth boards have a dampstain affecting the bottom of the back cover and the spine, as well as rubbing, edge wear, a bumped back bottom corner. The bottom and middle staple have rusted, staining some pages. It's cracked at the second page, and starting to crack at the back hinge. The first several pages are half-loose. The interior is age-toned. The binding, at least starting from the contents page, is tight. As a bonus, we'll include a 1947 Union Pacific condensed time tables pamphlet.
