Description: The Douglas DC-6 is a four-engine propeller driven airliner manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1946 to 1958. Military versions of this aircraft, the C-118 Liftmaster for the United States Air Force and R6D for the United States Navy, until 1962, when all Navy versions also became known as the C-118. The first flight of the DC-6 was on 15 February 1946. It was introduced in 1947 to American Airlines and United Airlines. Pan America World Airways, commonly known as Pan Am, was an American airline that was the principle and largest international air carrier and unofficial overseas flag carrier of the United States, for much of the 20th Century. Pan American was founded on 14 March 1927 as Pan American Airways. The airline had 49 Douglas DC-6's in service from 1953 to 1968. This aircraft with registration N6110C, was delivered to Pan Am on 01 December 1953. It was named "Clipper Natchez". It provided service with Pan Am until September of 1968 when it was sold to Air Lease Incorporated. It went through four more owners, ending its service life with firefighting company Aero Retardant, in 1972 where it provided service until it was ultimately written off.
