Description: Item Description: For sale today is one oven stabilized 10MHz timebase board for the HP Agilent 5384A, 5385A, and 5386A Frequency Counters. This is an upgrade from the standard TCXO in the counter. The first two pictures are of the board. Current boards have a used Piezo Technik, ISOTEMP, or CTI OCXO installed. The 3rd picture shows the OCXO board mounted in a 5386A counter (not included). Board color may be either purple or green. Changes are required to the frequency counter to install the option. For the 5385A, the 4th picture shows jumper W2 that has to be removed to use this upgrade. The 5th and 6th pictures (from a previous buyer) show an installation in a 5384A and the instructions for installation in a 5384A or 5385A. For the 5386A, the manual indicates that the TCXO (located at the rear of the board) should be removed, but removing R98 (see 7th picture) which is located next to the TCXO would also work. The GPIB board in the 5386A has to be moved to get to R98 or the TCXO. The last four pictures are copies of the OCXO data sheet and the HP timebase specs for each of the counters.. Condition: This module is a new OCXO board with a used OCXO installed for the Agilent 5384A, 5385A, and 5386A frequency counters. The board is soldered onto the main board in the counter using the existing holes from the HP OCXO option. The OCXO is powered by the "always ON" 5V power source used to power the HP OCXO option. It draws about 350mA at turn ON and about 140mA when at temperature. The OCXO on the board stabilizes within 3 to 5 minutes after turn ON but should be on for at least one hour if calibrating. The frequency adjustment is a 25 turn pot connected to a precision reference chip and usually comes out around mid scale (usually about 2.3V) when adjusted for 10MHz. It will ship adjusted against a GPS reference. There are test points on the board (not populated) for measuring the OCXO trim voltage and other signals/voltages if desired. You will need an accurate and stable 10MHz reference clock such as a Rubidium reference oscillator or GPS stabilized reference if you plan to calibrate the counter yourself. The counter will only be as good as the reference used for calibration.
