Description: This is a HUGE collection of True Antique 682 pieces of ALL Original WW1 Postcards! WW1 Christmas Cards these are Beautiful WW1 Christmas Cards ( these were sent to him) and 1 is Dated Dec, 16, 1918)- unused. We have counted this 4 times and we believe that this count is correct. The problem was that we only ended up with the same result 2 out of 4 times. We did find about 8 there were from the USA. So if it’s off by a few we did our very best! This collection was found as we were cleaning out the bottom draw from Dad’s very old wooden file cabinet inside a was bunch of wax envelopes. As we tried removing the envelopes they all disintegrated! These card are nearly all in great antique condition! Yes they have a bit of patina to them but nothing that’s makes them unreadable. So please look at all the pictures and blow them up so you can see them in better detail. These were handed down from my Grandfather to Dad and I only remember seeing these once while I was a much much younger man. As I can remember and Dad is recalling their origins, these came from my Grandfathers home. These were given to him by a very close friend of his before his passing. As Dad remembers the history (best as possible), the Original Owner was a Colonel’s Attaché ( His personnel driver and all around assistant) prior to the start of WW1 and was stationed in Europe. As he travelled around Europe he bought many many of these Postcards. Sending home to friends and family, which there were only a very few that were actually written on but next sent. All the ones that were written on are on the very right side of the table, you can see there are very few of them. So we don’t know the best way to describe this listing but will do our very best! 1. There are 5 actual photograph, the Pyramid of Soldiers, the WW1 Troop Truck, the Group sitting and waiting for Orders and 1 faded picture that’s has folks outside. Lastly 1 picture of 2 small children, looks like 2 very young boys and they appear to be wearing those Holland type wooden, pointy toed shoes? 5 original photographs Now the actual US Army photographs groups we are uncertain if he is pictured in them, most likely he is but we can’t tell you which person he is? Dad and I have looked though other letters and photographs in that file cabinet and we just can’t seem to match any letters or pictures with those pictures. 2. Those 6 Christmas Cards and a “WHEN YOU COME HOME AGAIN”. 6 original Christmas Cards 3. 3 Newpaper Articles: “That’s Me All Over, Mable; Letters From Bill” Dated-Copywrited 1919, THE FRESNO HERALD’S HONOR ROLL ( about 8 employees who enlisted in US ARMED FORCES)& THE AMERICAN ALPHABET ( letters from A to Z, telling for why they must buy War Bonds). OK here is the challenge! There are so many that to list each one would take Dad and I over a year or more! Fall but 1 or 2 Postcards from all over Europe. There are some cities with only 1 or 2 or 3 and other cities with quite a Few. So let’s describe some of what we think are very special groups! 1. So this group of pictures are showing Bombardments of Cities and Towns with Military Personnel in the pictures. Some are just extremely sad! With Dead Bodies and Crosses on Graves and lots of Barbed wire and what looks like an internment camp in Rotterdam ( Writing on the back of this Postcard noted the location). 33 picture postcards, 1 postcard has 3 duplicates, and 2 pictures are labeled “Americans in France” and 2 pictures show WW1 type Airplanes in the picture. 33 Pictures 2. So this grouping of picture show the Bombardment of cities and towns with and without folks in the pictures, we did not see Military personnel. Again these are just very sad! Towns, Cities, Apartment Buildings, Homes, Businesses, Religious Buildings and Government Buildings.Cities include VERDUN and the Argonne. 46 pictures 3. The balance of the pictures are showing what appears to be these same towns, cities, Churches, Cathedrals, Government Building prior to the war, this we are not 100% certain of? So we have missed something in these but did not see any particular bombed out buildings in the background.
