Description: Measuring about 5-1/4" x 8", and 375 pages long, plus advertising, this hardback book is "The Life of John Randolph of Roanoke, Volume 2" by Hugh A. Garland. Published in New York by D. A. Appleton & Co., it has a copyright date of 1850 and a publication date of 1851, and, with no later edition stated, it is presumed to be the First Edition. And I repeat, it is Volume 2 only - we do not have Volume 1. The book is in excellent condition, especially considering its age, but with a hinge crack at the front end paper. The binding is otherwise nice and tight, but there are a few creased page corners, some scattered stains or foxing, and some scuffs and stains and edge wear on the cover, especially the spine ends and corners. It is also an ex-library book, the evidence of which includes a white ink inscription on the spine, a sticker on the front end paper, sticker remnants on the back end paper and stampings or inscriptions on the title page, contents page, and maybe other pages as well.
