Description: Hand painted design includes blue, pink, green, tan, gold and white floral decorations, with heavy gilding on serving plate handles, cup handles, plate and saucer rims. Beautifully done! Marks used on the pieces are: --Left-facing lion in oval with Hutschenreuther Selb L-H-S Bavaria (*this green, stamped mark was used between 1925-1939). This mark is on the six plates. --Made in Japan is very faintly stamped on the six cups. --RS Germany with branches on left and right with star at the top (*this blue, stamped mark is on the creamer and the sugar bowl). --Saucers are unmarked A handwritten note tucked inside the sugar bowl reads, in part: "Sophie 1944 to Ruth O. 1960." (Note will be included for buyer.) Condition: dinner plates, saucers, sugar bowl, lid, creamer and all but one of the cups are in excellent condition. One cup has a repaired handle. Serving plate is in very good condition, but does have a small chip on the very bottom rim. This is not noticeable when displayed or used. Set has been appraised by Dr. Lori Verderame, PhD Antiques Appraiser and is circa mid 20th century. Great gift for a collector!
