Description: Beautiful icon entitled “Gabriel the Archangel” produced for The Printery House, Conception Abbey, MO. In the New Testament, the Gospel of Luke describes the Annunciation, in which the Archangel Gabriel announces to the Blessed Virgin Mary that she will give birth to a son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and become the Mother of God. The icon features a printed paper appliqué affixed to a beautifully finished wood plaque. The icon measures approximately 8 1/8” x 12 1/8”. The age of the icon is unknown, but it appears to be contemporary. There is a cut-out on the back of the icon to hang it on a wall. Estate sale find. The icon is a beautiful devotional to the St. Gabriel the Archangel! The icon appears to be in very good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as minor scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, indentations, rub marks, smudges, spots, and minor wear on the edges and corners of the appliqué and the wood plaque. Some of these flaws are most noticeable when the icon is viewed at certain angles and lighting. The sticker on the back of the icon appears to be in excellent used condition.
