Description: ELKHART Indiana Commercial Bank $1 May 1, 1856 Remainder PMG Very Fine 20 Haxby IN-145 G2aThe Commercial Bank of Elkhart, IN is listed in Haxby as a "fraudulent bank" and in the Wolka reference as a "private bank that closed sometime prior to 1862." Little else is known about the institution beyond that. The design of this $1 example features a steam train at left, two allegorical females at center, and a cherub at right. In addition, there is an orange ONE overprint at bottom center. PMG has called this note a remainder due to lack of serial number. Scarce note that easily meets the assigned grade. click here: Pat's coins - currency - & more! | eBay Stores
