Description: Truman Capote wrote In Cold Blood in a repertorial style, detailing the circumstances of the 1959 Clutter family murders in Holcomb, Kansas. He was assisted in his research by his childhood friend Harper Lee, famous for To Kill a Mockingbird, in which Capote "appears" as the character Dill. In Cold Blood is the first novel explicitly in the "True Crime" genre, and is among the best-selling of all time. It was initially published in 1966, and was filmed by Richard Brooks in 1967, starring Robert Blake and Scott Wilson as the murderers Perry Smith and Richard Hickock. This copy is the first Book of the Month Club edition, published in conjunction with the release of the film. This copy is not a first printing of the edition. It is in hardcover and has a dust jacket. Here are the condition notes: Good used condition. Dust jacket is present and intact but shows significant wear, including edge and corner rubbing all around and several small tears, wear and creasing at hinges. Dark red cloth boards are in good condition with light fading along the very bottom edge. There is a black marker spot on the page opposite the frontispiece. Otherwise the interior is clean and unmarked with off-white pages. Binding is tight and intact.
