Description: Insects Their Ways and Means of Living by Robert Evans Snodgrass, Volume Five of the Smithsonian Scientific Series (1930) hardcover (9.5x6”) 362 pgs, 14 color/ b&w Plates and 186 b&w Illustrations. This is the Patron's Edition of this book. Fancier binding, gilt page tops and heavier paper than found in some of the other versions. Pages have the Smithsonian Scientific Series watermark (see pic 5). Pages are uncut and clean, with gilt along top edges. Condition: The main weakness of this copy is the appearance of its spine. Wear and staining on the spine are starting to obscure some of the gilt lettering. There's a minor bump to the bottom of the spine. There's a shallow dent in the back cover that's hard to see, but visible (see last pic). Binding is tight. Picture 16 shows binding elements visible at the fold between two front endpages, which doesn't look good, but all the pages in the book are in fact solidly bound. The pictures provide more information about this book and the condition of this copy. ► We are thinning contents of our smoke-free, pet-free home. Books will be listed, plus toys including CCG and trading cards, fabric/wallpaper sample books, jigsaw puzzles, jewelry, household items and maybe some of my fishing and workshop stuff.
