Description: cs2055 - Intel x86 Native Assemblers, Disassemblers, Debuggers, etc. April, 2006 Edition Copyright Arnold Kochman. Other copyrights also apply, in particular the General Public License. This CD contains assembly language tools applicable to the Intel x86 family of processors. The emphasis here if on tools that can be used on Microsoft system. Included are Assemblers, Linkers, Disassemblers, Debuggers, and a variety of associated utility programs. The various packages appear to be useful, but naturally I cannot certify that they are all worthwhile for any particular purpose. The programs are either public domain or some kind of public license. Naturally, I cannot give assurances about the suitability of any package for a particular purpose. I have included some documentation, where possible. You will need one of the commonly available unzip utilities, such as PKUNZIP or WinZip or tar, depending upon your system environment. In addition, packages contain documentation at varying levels of thoroughness, which you will see when you expand the archives in which they are stored. Note that there are various archive formats, which generally are appropriate to the area of applicability of the contents. Here are the Packages included: Intel x86 Native Assemblers, Linkers, Debuggers, Etc LZASM - Lazy Assembler - An x86 assembler for DOS and Windows that supports the TASM (Turbo Assembler) IDEAL mode and produces OMF OBJ files. Support MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 (PNI), 3DNow!Pro instructions. The lzasm.zip file is for DOS and the lzasmx file is for wWindows. The documentation is for the Paradigm assembler, which the maker of LZASM claims is "very similar". NBASM - The NewBasic Assembler - An x86 assembler with near perfect compatibility with MASM 5.1x. Also included are a disassembler, a linker, and many other utilities. NBASM is most friendly for DOS and DOS-like system environments. FASM - Flat Assembler - An Intel x86 macro assembler for MSDOS, Win32, and Linux systems that accepts 16 bit and 32 bit 80x86/Pentium code, MMX, SSE, SSE2 instructions, and macros. It can generate binary files, as well as MZ and PE executables. Pass32 - An assembler developed to allow easy programming of 32 (or 16) bit DOS programs. It comes with a complete programming environment: dos extender, debugger, assembler and linker. It comes with a significant run time library for DOS protected mode programming. It is suitable for at least Dos/Windows 3.x/Win95/Win98. TMA - TMA Macro Assembler - An Intel x86 assembler released under the GNU General Public License. It includes an IDE. It is distributed as assembler source. You will need an installed assembler to assemble it. Nasm - An assembler that assembles Intel x86 assembly code. It runs on MSDOS, Win32, Linux and possibly other platforms. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License and the GNU Library or Lesser General Public License. PEDasm - A Win32 command line tool to disassemble binary files targeted for win32 X86 platforms. It produces on output an asm source file that can compile with MASM, or come close. This last version is distributed under the terms of the GNU general public license. PEDasm is not energetically supported. Debuggy - A Windows debugger, disassembler, Windows resource extractor, file hex editor, window sniffer and API spy.
