Description: The biggest advantage of this remote extender over most others is that it is does NOT use radio frequencies to transmit IR but instead puts the signals on the power line so it normally has far greater range. Of course if you are NOT having range problems or other interference problems with RF it's basically the same as most RF based extenders. Extending your IR remote controls from room to room or even to AV equipment behind closed doors in the same room could not be easier than with eZRemote. The small IR detector on the 6 foot cord (third photo above) can be placed anywhere an IR signal can reach it. It's jack plugs into the receiver in the room where you want to operate an IR remote handset. When the small detector "sees" an IR command its receiver electronics plugged into an outlet in that room converts the IR signal and places it on the power line. The transmitter and receiver which plug into wall outlets are larger than a pack of cigarettes which might be objectionable in some cases but the actual IR detector and IR blasters are small. In the remote room (or even in the same room behind closed doors) a transmitter plugged into a wall outlet converts the power line signal back to an IR signal and the small IR emitters (blaster) plugged into it delivers the command to your equipment (over a dual emitter 10 foot cord). See 4th photo above. This operates similar to the Powermid but with the Powermids the small triangular pyramids must be able to be placed where they can receive the IR signal which is usually not a problem but placing the other pyramid to transmit the IR signals to your AV equipment can be. The eZRemote's emitters can be attached directly (they are adhesive) over your equipment's IR detectors to insure they receive the signal. The other big difference which I have already mentioned is the Powermids use RF for the IR signals whereas these eZremotes use the power line. RF signals often have difficulty making it through many walls - especially brick walls - but the eZRemote's power line signals can go anywhere the power lines go. Walls don't matter! Since the eZRemote places the signal on the power line it "usually" gives it far longer range and eliminates RF interference. If you have multiple locations within your home from which you wish to use remote commands buy one of these for each location. You won't use but one of the receivers to take the signal off the power line but at this price it will cost less than any other option. These are factory sealed with a money back guarantee. If you are an installer and can use all 8 (or all I have left), make me an offer through eBay's "contact seller". Also, I plan to ship these in their color carton as shown. I will tape the edges and they will be secure but if you want it shipped inside another box contact me through eBay since I will have to create another listing at a higher price if I have to buy a box.
