Description: J. Allen Gruen - Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad “Blue Adam” Original Art / 2” x 13” x 19” - Part of my father’s collection from the mid 1980’s - The ‘Blue Adam’ plate centerpiece was always described as authentic throughout the years & I have no reason to doubt it. Of the two similar pieces that were made only the ‘Curecanti’ is described by the artist as a reproduction and dated 1987. The ‘Blue Adam’ is given an introduction date of 1937 and I’m sure my father would have insisted on its authenticity. J. Allen Gruen was a railroad artist based out of Corpus Christi, Texas. He used a combination of original art and vintage railroad artifacts to create one of a kind art pieces. He made 7 different pieces for my father over the years including the - Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad - California Zephyr - Rio Grande Southern Railroad. * Very good condition - minimal signs of wear - glass is clean, frame is solid, backing is fine. The hand-illustrated D&RGW ‘Blue Adam’ title has faded somewhat over time. A chance to own a truly unique piece for the serious rail fan.
