Description: Undoubtedly among the finest letters signed by Federal Bureau of Investigation Director J. Edgar Hoover signed as the Director of the Department of Justice Bureau of Investigation (signed nearly a decade before the creation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation “FBI”). Hoover became the first FBI Director in June 1935. This letter dated May 17, 1926, typed on his Director stationery informs the recipient of his increase in compensation from $3000 to $3100 per annum. Among the earliest Hoover signed artifact that I have seen. 8 X 10.5. Very good condition.
