Description: ROUND SERVING BOWLFlow Blue - "Rhine" PatternJames Kent Ltd (JKL)Staffordshire, Englandc. 1901123 Years Old! Description: This (display only) Round Serving Bowl was made by the James Kent Ltd. potterer who was an earthenware and porcelain manufacturer at the Old Foley Pottery, Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, England c. 1901. The beautiful "RHINE" pattern is an evening scene which shows a large group of people being paddled along a waterway with castle style buildings, bridges, other boats, beautiful trees and a large full moon in the sky with clouds surrounding it. The bowl edge is highly decorative, with flowers and curlieques and scrolls against a "line" pattern of blue. You'll also notice decorative raised designs on the bowls rim. These would have been decorated with gilding, however, with wear and age, the gilding has worn off. While it is worn and shows wear on the backside, it has survived for 123 years and deserves to be on display for the beauty of the original design. Maker Mark: Printed in flow blue on base of bowl on outside rim Has the JKL insignia printed in a shield shape with a crown over the top; banner runs across shield with "JKL" printed on it Reads: RHINE over top of insignia and ENGLAND below insignia There is a printe flow blue "O" on center base of bowlBelieve this was manufactured c. 1901 Size: Bowl measures approx. 9-7/8" diameter and 1-7/8" tall Condition: Fair Condition - Use for Display Only.Antique c. 1901 - 123 years old Pre-OwnedNo repairs or major utensil marks; flow blue pattern shows clearly and darkCrazing can be seen throughout bowl (see photos)A bright white rectangle can be seen on base -- from a previous sticker that was there for years??The white coloration on this bowl has stained dark (see base)Several edge chips can be seen on underside of rim; one has a crack that extends up into bowl and can be seen on interior of bowl.
