They purchased it in 1969 probably when her husband was in the military. Beautiful detail on face, hair, body, clothing. She updo of silk thread hair with an elaborate headpiece,and holds a fan.The label on base shows the story behind the doll and owner wrote purchased in 1969. These dolls are later versions of centuries old Japanese Hina Matsuri (Girls Day) dolls/Ningyo.Beautifully painted facial details, individual fingers, a stockinette type material for heads and hands. DOJYOJI is a NO play, It is set in the Buddhist temple Dōjō-ji in Kii Province, telling the story of a vengeful serpent-spirit and a temple bell.
