They were issued by Circle Records as a set of 45 12" Vinylite recordspresented in 12 separate binders. Sold on a subscription basis, the originalcost was a staggering $120 and the first sets were shipped in late 1947. It seems that the initial pressing was limited to 250 sets but it's likely that at least 350 sets were finally issued, based on the handwrittenLimited Edition numbers assigned to each volume.
