There were normally three acts on the bill and one evening Jimi was the third act. Exhausted from photographing the other groups, I gathered my equipment and was about to leave when he went on stage. As I made my way up the aisle, his incredible music and energy exploded throughout the theatre like an electrical storm…I stopped dead in my tracks and headed straight back to the stage with camera in hand. I’m glad I did. Unfortunately, there wouldn’t be many other opportunities to capture this legendary performer.Jimi Hendrix was a kind, considerate man—a spiritual force whose music expanded our consciousness and set us free. Jimi often carried his own movie camera. The last time I photographed him was at a press conference in 1968 at the Pan Am building in NYC where he decided to record the media recording him. Unfortunately. all those films have been lost.”
