Description: Joan Miró Zephyr Bird, 1956; Brilliant in coloration, this work features jovial figures inspired by our surrounding natural world.Miro entices the viewer’s eye by offering visual puzzles that will provide hours of intrigue. This work is one of seven lithographs that were created to accompany the catalogue for the exhibition “Terres de grand feu, Miro-Artigas,” which was held in the Galarie Maeght. Published by Maeght, the composition would have originally been printed on a double page layout displayed on pages 14 and 15 of the catalogue thus they all have a central fold. The work is unique in that Miro relies primarily upon the use of color to define the composition rather than his signature bold use of line. Miro once stated that one of his major objectives as an artist was to arrest the viewer’s attention and his use of contrasting colors effectively accomplishes this. Frame: 67.5 x 50.75 cm - Lithograph: 52 x 34 cm Please inspect images thoroughly and enlarge, if you have any questions or require more photographs please do not hesitate to ask.
