Description: This is "Beauties of American History" by John Lauris Blake (1788-1857), in an edition published by the author in 1844. This edition features a history of the United States, with a frontispiece and numerous woodblock illustrations. Mr. Blake was an early (1812) graduate of Brown University, a pastor, and an author of a number of books on American history. Condition of this book is Good Plus; the embossed cloth-covered boards show some wear, discoloration and bumping to the corners. The spine panel is cracked at the gutter, but firmly attached and with the gilt decoration still bright. The interior shows mild foxing, with more significant foxing on a few early pages.
