Description: The print offered here is from a series entitled "Selections of the Ancient Costumes of Great Britain and Ireland" published by Colnaghi in 1812. This aquatint is of a young woman, Cecilia Lady of Sir Bryon Stapleton K.G., with a lovely outfit and a come hither look. The print was etched by John Augustus Atkinson (1775-1830) and aquatinted by the famous printmaker, John Hill (1770-1850) after a drawing and design by Charles Hamilton Smith (1776-1859), all three of Great Britain although John Hill immigrated to America and lived out his life in West Nyack, New York. The British Museum has this print in its online collection at J,22.48. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions". Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
