Matting has warps, card has extensive damage, print has toning at edges or the matting. Retains Berkeley CA, framers label on reverse. Card has a photo mechanical reproduction of a Tittle work on the front, depicting a figurative bust of a child. With legend below reading "Unless become like little children, ye shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3). Biography from the National Portrait Gallery: Walter Tittle studied art under William Merritt Chase in New York, and during his career, he lived and worked in both Britain and the United States. His work in etching, lithography and painting includes portraits of people such as Joseph Conrad, Arnold Bennett and George Bernard Shaw. Tittle was a member of the Royal Society of Arts, London, the Society of American Etchers, the Chicago Society of Etchers and the Print Makers' Society of California.
