Description: Two tunnels used by the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Santa Fe Railroad collapsed between Tehachapi and MarcelThough damage was spread throughout a large area, most was concentrated in the town of Tehachapi where at least 11 were killed and 35 were injured.An early estimate reported in the Los Angeles Times had the damage at $2.6 million with 700 families affected in Tehachapi alone, where most of the town's buildings sustained damage.
