The helmet was obtained from a USC Trojans equipment manager back in the day. This is not a replica helmet with faux/fake padding, but it has full real padding as used on the field of play. The helmet is cleanly and boldly signed by Junior in silver sharpie and he added his collegiate team number. While the helmet does not come with a COA, we guarantee that it pass JSA or PSA authentication or we will refund the sales price. The helmet is in excellent shape, without any apparent scratches, scrapes or blemishes. You should also note that the helmet is equipped with the cardinal red face mask, as was the type used by the Trojans back in the late 1980's when Junior was playing there. While it is an authentic helmet, it is being sold for display only and the helmet is no longer intended for competitive use. This helmet has been in our collection for almost 10 years and we are only willing to now make it available due to an impending move. Junior Seau is one of the great inside linebackers in the history of the NFL. Playing twenty (20) seasons in the NFL (1990-2009). During this time Junior played primarily for the San Diego Chargers, but he also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots. Junior was know for his intensity on the field and he was named to 12 Pro Bowl teams and also had 9 All-Pro selections in his career. He was named to the NFL 1990's All-Decade Team and he was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. Prior to the pros, Junior was a standout linebacker with the USC Trojans and in 1989 he was named as an All-American and he was named the All-Pac-10's Defensive Player of the Year. Sadly, Junior took his own life in 2012 at the age of 43. It was later later determined that he was suffering from CTE, the brain degenerative disease that has impacted many college and professional football players. This helmet is a very unique and rare find and you shouldn't pass it up In particular, Trojans helmets signed by Junior are very difficult to locate.
