Description: Featured for sale - this vintage Kamaka Soprano ukulele. (No case) Patina on fretboard indicates well loved instrument, wood finish is in great shape, neck, tuning pegs and all frets are nice and tight. Can see the remnants of the gold sticker on the inside, the sticker on back of headstock intact. Please take note of all close-ups and photographs. In particular the spacing at the bottom of the body as it is seated with the back (on bottom) of the ukulele. Sound of uke is fantastic - but it is missing E string. The Kamaka ukuleles with the “Fabricated by Kamaka, Japan Ltd.” label were manufactured in Japan between the mid-1960s to 1971. During that time, the demand for affordable ukuleles for beginners in Hawaii and overseas, especially in Japan, was impossible for Sam Kamaka, Jr. to meet. With the help of the Hiroshi Endo family, he was able to meet the demand. Most of the ukuleles made in Japan were made of Philippine mahagony wood, but a few were made with koa. The ukuleles that have the label “Hand Finished by Kamaka Hawaii,” were finished (sprayed and polished) at the factory in Hawaii.
