Description: This exquisite signed framed woodblock print by KAORU KAWANO depicts a girl holding a bouquet of flowers and butterflies. This print is stunning, but no longer goes with my decor. The Mid Century Japanese Woodprinting style of this piece is a beautiful and unique addition to any art enthusiast's collection. This original piece is framed and handmade, and was produced using the woodblock print technique in Japan between 1916-1965. The title of the piece is "Girl with Flowers" and it is a must-have for any art lover. The overall framed size is 20.5” tall x 14.75” wide. The woodblock printed area measure just under 15” tall and 9.25” wide, with some additional paper showing around the printed area and 1.75” visible mat all around. The frame is a faux black bamboo i excellent condition and was professionally framed. The backing paper has one small puncture as shown in the pictures. This will be well wrapped and insured for mailing. If damaged during shipment, the buyer MUST provide pictures to me for the insurance claim. Refund will be made on approval and acceptance by USPS. Kaoru Kawano was a Japanese woodblock print artist who worked during the Showa period (1926-1989). Born in Hokkaido in 1916, Kawano studied at Kawabata Art School during the 1930s. He gained an international his reputation through successful solo exhibitions in North America and elsewhere. His prints frequently depict children and animals, combining Western-style elements with the tradition of woodblock printmaking. Kaoru Kawano’s works are also appreciated for the way in which they incorporate the woodgrain of the block into the design.
