The Story of Karrawingi the Emu won the inaugural Australian Children’s Book of the Year in 1946. He has written longer novels for young readers, radio and theatre plays, and books on drama. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1981 for services to literature Walter Cunningham (1910–1988), Australian illustrator. Cunningham's pictorial composition and understanding of animal behaviour, exhibited in his many watercolor illustrations in more than thirty books, transformed Australian children's book illustration in the 1940s. * Seller’s Condition rating for vintage and collectable books: *AA down to *BB – cover and pages are mostly clean and unmarked.
