The medal is gilded metal, it is 1 1/2 inch in diameter and in uncirculated condition with a tiny spot on the building & a couple minor field marks. This medal is housed in a cardboard holder, inside a plastic snap lock case. The medal on one side at the rim reads THE LARGEST WEIGHT EVER LAUNCHED FROM EARTH. In the center it reads APOLLO SATURN and APPROX. 6 MILLION POUNDS. In the very center it shows the Apollo Saturn ready for launch. On the card below the medal it reads HISTORIC APOLLO SATURN. The other side of the medal, at the rim, reads KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA - VEHICLE ASSEMBLY BUILDING. In the center it shows a large building and under the building it reads ONE OF THE WORLDS LARGEST BUILDING 129,482,000 CU. FEET. On the card below the medal it reads I BELIEVE THIS NATION SHOULD COMMIT ITSELF TO ACHIEVING THE GOAL, BEFORE THIS DECADE IS OUT, OF LANDING A MAN ON THE MOON AND RETURNING HIM SAFELY TO EARTH - MAY 25, 1961 JOHN F.
