Description: For your consideration is a wonderful and rare painting on canvas by South Korean artist Kim Foon (1924-2013). This piece comes from a NY estate and was most likely purchased at the Mi Chou gallery in Madison Avenue, NYC during the early 1960’s. It features a wonderful, prominent plum / purple color background. It is one of the most attractive Foon paintings from this period that I’ve seen. The artist’s signature is at the bottom right corner in blue paint. This painting comes in its original frame and measures a total of 29” wide by 35.75” tall. I tried to photograph all of the surface imperfections up close and in bring light. There is some surface cracking to the paint throughout. There is also one small hole in the canvas in the solid purple field of the painting. I had previously thought this was actually part of the composition. It was not until I examined it carefully and looked at the back that I realized it was damage to the canvas. Because of where it is on the picture it should actually be easy to have restored. Please examine all of the photos for a good visual description. It will give you a better description of the condition than my words can. Feel free to ask any questions, especially if anything about the condition is unclear in the photos. Thanks for your interest.
