Description: Kitagawa Utamaro Mounted Plate Old paper maybe Leather? Print of Naniwaya Okita by Kitagawa Utamaro with Signature, on heavy 12.6" plate signed/marked by unknown. Weighs 4 lbs 1 oz. Print is VERY fragile. Do not get wet. I got a tiny dot of water on it and it stained. Already has numerous water spots. Most ink color has faded. Only minor shadow of shirt print is there. Mostly the black stayed and some pink/red. Appears to be exact copy of the print, proportionally, with an impressed outline into the leather/paper and perhaps has some hand coloring. The black looks kind of smeared around instead of in lines. No idea of when it was made or by whom. Feel free to make me an offer.
