The superb quality china has colors that are cool and relaxing. This is decorated on a blank of high white fine china with gold trim w/black lines on the edges and gold on the floral leaves. The tulips are quite intricate and gaily colored. The green stems serve as a dividing line between the white interior and the wide gold on the rim. The reticulated handles are unadorned. CONDITION: While this mayo set is classified as used, its condition is superb. We can find no chips, nicks, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be no wear to the colors and no crazing. We can find no utensil marks on the set. Look in the photos to see this. DIMENSIONS: The bowl is an oval of 5 15/16" by 4 7/8" and has a height of 2 1/4". The underplate is 7 7/16" by 6" with a height of 1". The overall height of the set is 2 1/2". HISTORY/MARKS: Kloster Vessra is a municipality in the district of Hildburghausen in Thuringia, Germany. Vessra Abbey was founded and supported by the Henneberg family and abandoned after the Reformation. Bofinger & Co. ran the Kloster Vessra Porcelain Factory from 1892-1921 producing household porcelain marked with the castle mark (front of the monastery). Then Oscar Fischer & Theodor Lehmann were proprietors from 1921 to the closing of the factory in 1937 using the mark with F & L. From Robert E. Rontgen’s Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present, this set has mark #1892 which was used in the 1892-1921 time period.
