KOKESHI Japanese Traditional Doll Haiku Vintage signed Tatsuro Takahashi Traditional kokeshi dolls, a craft unique to the Tohoku region, are said to have originated as souvenirs for children in hot spring resorts in the Tohoku region around the end of the Edo period (1603-1868). This kokeshi doll appears to have been created by an artist named Tatsuro Takahashi, who has won the Prime Minister's Award.
