Description: The Takegoshi family has been in Terai-cho, Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and famous for Kutani ware since the late Edo period (1603-1868). Toshiaki the third generation, who studied industrial design at Kanazawa College of Art, has continued to create ceramics from various angles, from vessels to ceramic murals and environmental sculptures, using his free ideas to create unique shapes and paintings. His works are rich in artistry, with a focus on form, and the painted elements and patterns that are the origin of Kutaniyaki (kutani-ware) are in harmony with nature in sharp and rich forms. In 2019, in recognition of his achievements, Toshiaki Takegoshi, the president of Kutani Yaki, will be awarded the Japan Lead-Free Glaze Promotion Award. In 2019, the Japan Lead-Free Glaze Promotion Committee, headed by Toshiaki Takegoshi, received an award from the Commissioner of the Agency for Cultural Affairs in recognition of its achievements. Fuyuki fourth generation, graduated of Kanazawa College of Arts and Crafts, trained under his father (Toshiaki) and has won numerous special prizes at Nitten which is Japan's largest general art exhibition. He has also been active in the Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition and the Ishikawa Ceramic Art Association, and his prestigious style is a perfect example of his gentle and honorable personality. As an artist of Kutani-yaki, he is seeking new expressions to decorate space without being bound by conventional wisdom in order to transcend the times and spread his art to the world.
