Description: This is a beautiful Huichol Beaded Day of the Dead Clay Figurine. Handmade, 16.75"H and Signed by the artist. A lovely Mexican Folk Art collectible sculpture. Absolutely gorgeous, elegant black, blue, ivory and platinum silver pearl themed, glass beaded clay, Day of the Dead, Catrina Bride sculpture clay figurine. Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche wax onto this sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this Day of the Dead La Calavera Catrina depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods. Handmade by the talented Mexican Huichol Indian artist, Isaias Bautista Carrillo, Turatemai, in Jalisco, Mexico. Isaias' designs have that haute couture elegance. This Catrina is signed by the artist. Dressed in a gorgeous, beaded, one shoulder sleeveless bridal gown, this La Catrina portrays a sassy and elegant pose while holding her delicate hand painted antiqued bronze pink rose clay bouquet. Her mermaid style gown with Mother of the corn blessing her bodice, is ruffled at the bottom with a beautiful train. On the bottom, the female snake, thought to be the Sea Mother Goddess of rain with prayer arrows on both ends, protects the well rooted corn symbol for future food for her family. Father Sun provides warmth and protects her wedding day with blessings. Two Peyote flowers are being nourished by the rain and the Messenger Deer, the ultimate communicator, speaks to the Gods for a blessed marriage. Her gorgeous gown has a draped front with accented exposed under-drape of beads at her right leg. A big, 3D bow adds dimension under her blue and ivory color beaded bouquet. Her traditional head piece, in typical Mexican headdress style, is garnished with ivory color beads and platinum gray pearl beads. Her head is detachable, can swivel side to side for more elegant poses. We love her pearl color button earrings and silver pearl teeth accented by neon pink eye shadow with purple blushed cheeks. The symbols used on her gown make her seem as if she is preparing for her special day in a most elegant way. Gorgeous!
