Description: Vintage 1940s-1950s Ladies’ Wool Felt Fez Bucket Hat with Wool Tassels Made in Italy by Grevi A long-standing company with headquarters in Signa, near Florence in Tuscany, GREVI has produced hats since 1875. Production at the factory has been in Grevi family hands for over four generations and the company boasts a history that spans an entire century. The thirties were the years of the melousine – and satine – felt hats, exotic straw creations, and fabrics like organza, velvet, and straw laize were widely used. Retail Label from the long defunct Department Store, G. Fox, Hartford, CT. This black “fuzzy” wool hat suggests a fez in style, but it's larger and sits a bit further down on the head, more like a bucket hat. Its made of black felt with long silky wool tassels is attached to the top. Trimmed with a grosgrain sweatband (which has become partly detached) ; inside is a white printed label and the words “Grevi….Body Made in Italy”. Inside diameter is about 22 in. 8.5 in. H including tassel. Interior Dimensions: 7” x 7”.I believe the size is probably MEDIUM. Excellent Used Condition! Very Clean!Grosgrain is intact but partially detached and needs to be sewn in to inverted rim.
