Description: Up for sale is a LARGE movie poster for Oscar Hammerstein's CARMEN JONES. It is a limited edition poster number 54/474 in the bottom right hand corner. It is for the screen version of the musical "Carmen Jones," which adapted Bizet's opera Carmen for an African-American cast. A soldier falls for Dandridge, a seductive factory worker. The lovers flee after the soldier kills his sergeant, but Carmen's taunting faithlessness drives her lover to a crime of passion. Carmen Jones was a 1954 American musical film starring Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belafonte, produced and directed by Otto Preminger. Dorothy Dandridge became the first African-American to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. It measures approximately 81" x 81". The poster is linen backed. Overall, it is in Good Condition. The large poster was made by gluing 6 normal sized posters together on linen in order to make one big poster. There are some issues with the way the posters were laid on the linen. They don't completely line up in a few places (see photos) and the color is not the exact same on all 6 panels. There is some spotting, scratches and stains on the poster, as well. Other dings here and there. This is a big poster, that will ship rolled. Please note all shipping costs. Please email with questions and see my store for other great items.
