Description: This is a specimen of Calcite crystals with a faint purple hue. It is comprised of 2 large scalenohedron crystals merged. The crystals have a milky surface, but the underside shows this is just one of several banded zones, the rest being more transparent. There is a light dusting of Hematite and/or Manganese on one side. Under UV light the specimen glows red. The response is average. The aforementioned banding shows up very well in the fluorescent glow. This specimen measures 3.4 inches by 3.35 inches by 2.3 inches. It weighs 14.3 ounces, or 404 grams. It is from the Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Kalahari Manganese Fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa. I combine shipping with other purchases and with auction wins.
