It is from the Cretaceous, about 133 million years ago. Found at the town of Arpavon, near Nyons, in the Drome region of France. From an old collection, many collected in the 1960's. It is a Crioceratites duvali. It was a heteromorph ammonite, meaning its shell was partially uncoiled. This particular one measures about 3.1 inches. It is in-Situ, meaning it is still in its original plate. The plate is thick measuring about 3.7 inches at the longest measurement, and weighing 1 lbs. 1.3 oz. The Crioceratites duvali was named by Leveille in 1837. From the Lower Cretaceous, about 130 million years ago.
