Description: A large, vintage hand carved meerschaum pipe depicting the Ancient Greek god Bacchus, the demigod of wine, merriment, and carnal exploits. He was also referred to as Dionysus. Bacchus was one of the satyrs who inhabited the old forests of Europe. This pipe came from the estate of a man who lived in Turkey for many years. Anyone who has owned one of these handmade pipes know how impressive they are. Over time, the meerscham will develop a warm amber color from the burnt tobacco and hands of the smoker. This particular pipe is well on its way to get that patina insofar as it was smoked by its former owner. The pipe is difficult to describe in measurements due to its shape. It is approximately 7 inches long from the tip of its stem to Bacchus’ chin. It is approximately 2 inches at its widest point. I am taking photos against a ruler to give a sense of its size. Please note that the pipe does NOT have a case.
