Replacing a stolen tailgate or tail lights can cost thousands. Thieves have at least 2 methods for opening a locked tailgate. First, they can reach in your bed and using only a finger, flip a detent on the latch mechanisms at each end of the tailgate. Or, they can use a screw driver inserted into a half-inch access hole in the middle of the tailgate, on the bed side. Behind this hole is a hidden release lever to unlock and open the tailgate. Few owners know that this hidden release lever even exists. LatchLid blocks access to the latch mechanisms when the tail gate is closed. In this kit, we also include tamper proof screws for the tail lights and a fastener to block access to the hidden release lever. LatchLid is made in the USA. It is made of 16 gauge steel and is finished in black powder coating. Install it as is, or prep and then paint or spray with a bed liner to match your truck. LatchLid can be installed in minutes. No cutting or drilling required.
