Description: For sale is a late Victorian coal scuttle, c1890's in age with its original hand shovel. The hand shovels, and these cold cuddles usually always become separated over the years. This one being in original condition. The coal scuttle with a lovely faux burl wood decoration and gold gilt linear designs. The scuttle with hinged door, and transfer gilt decoration to the metal side body, Retaining its original pull out insert and matching coal shovel. The ceramic handles to the scuttle and hand shovel being in fine condition. The elaborate mounting hardware for the handle on both the scuttle and the hand shovel retaining much of their original gold gilding. The scuttle on toupie feet. Paint chip loss and dents and dings commensurate with age. But mostly good with expected age appropriate wear. The coal scuttle having a dusty interior from old coal ash accumulation. The scuttle has been air blown out of the coal scuttle. But still retaining some expected dust residue. Quite an honest old antique tole coal scuttle. A wonderful period Victorian decorative piece.
