A native to Asia, Africa, and northern Australia. It is also known as Hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet. This is the sole species of the genus Lawsonia. It is used to dye skin, hair and fingernails, and fabrics. It can prevent skin inflammation. The bark is used in treatments as well. It can grow to 25 feet but mostly around 10 to 15 feet tall. In bloom from late spring to early summer, the flowers give off a nice fragrance out of white to pale pink flowers. Grow in sandy, loamy soils that are well-drained for best results.
