These are made with split grain cow leather, with a smooth leather backing, and are heavily padded, and the workmanship is excellent making this a great choice for heavier guitars, or if you like that padded feel. GLV21- This top-quality strap measures 2-3/4" and approximately 54" long wide guitar strap is made of super soft, cow leather in your choice of all black with white contrast stitching (can be dyed black), brown with tan stitching or tuxedo black & white. GLV-12- This is a basic strap, no frills, decent leather great option for everyday use. It measures 2-1/2" wide and approximately 52" long. Choice of brown or black, great for lighter guitars like acoustics, hollow and semi hollow, and banjos. If you are looking for the best, a strap that will last, well, almost forever, then op for top-grain leather, it's is the best leather available. Second pick is is full-grain, third is split (suede), anything lower might be bonded leather, or pieces that are made to look like leather but are very low quality. We only use top quality for our guitar straps!No matter what leather goods you are shopping for many buyers aren’t familiar with the terms “full grain” or “top grain,” and instead they look for the words “genuine leather," but the term genuine leather, it’s not actually a good sign of quality. Genuine leather has become a catch-all phrase for anything that is technically leather, and that means it can also be bonded! Bonded leather is simply a very thin cheap, over-processed leather bonded to another fabric. You'll find a lot of real leather guitar straps, they just don't hold up, so pass those by. If you’re looking for true leather quality, which offers longevity, you’ll want to look for full-grain, top grain leather products, or even split-grain which is a nice soft suede.Full-grain leather is the highest quality grade of leather that money can buy. It comes from the top layer of the hide and includes all of the natural grain. It is more expensive and more difficult to work with. The quality is reflected in the cost to the consumer, but definitely worth it. Full-grain leather is incredibly strong, and very durable because the natural grain contains the strongest fibers in the hide. It’s also extremely breathable, resulting in less moisture from prolonged contact.Top grain leather is the second-highest grade of leather and has the outermost layer of hiding removed. This difference makes the leather thinner and more workable but allows for a lower price point compared to full-grain leather. But don’t pass up top grain leather, it's still very durable, reliable, and will last a very long time. With top-grain leather, the natural grain from the top surface of top grain leather is sanded away, which removes imperfections and blemishes. After sanding away the natural grain, top grain leather is imprinted with an imitation grain to give it more a uniform look, but the hide loses some of its strongest fibers as a result. However, if a uniform look is what you desire, then you’re in luck with top-grain leather. Some top-grain leather is left more natural. This natural surface of full grain leather is incredibly unique due to its natural imperfections, marks, and even light brand markings left on the surface. Our distressed brown strap is a great example of this.Split leather is found on the bottom part of the leather after the leather has been split, but don't be fooled, just because it's listed last, it's still real leather. Split leather is crafted from the fibrous part of the hide once the top-grain has been separated from the rawhide and is often referred to as suede due to its rougher, "fuzzy" texture. Split leather is the least expensive of the three, true cuts of leather, but is still very durable if processed and used correctly. Split leather is best for smaller items such as work gloves, shoes, or in this case guitar straps.
